How to Join a Wayground Game (Formerly Quizizz)

To join a Wayground game, go to wayground.com/join, enter the code your teacher shares, type your name, and click Join. You don’t need an account to join a live game, and it works on a phone, tablet, or computer.

That’s the quick version. Below are the full steps, where to find your code, how to join on a phone, and what to do if a code won’t work.

How to join a Wayground game with a code

1. Open the join page. Go to wayground.com/join in any browser, or open the Wayground app.
2. Enter your join code. Type the numerical code your teacher gives you. It’s usually 6 digits.
3. Add your name. Type your name, or tap the small arrow icon to pick a random one the platform suggests.
4. Set your options (optional). You can turn Read Aloud, sound effects, or music on or off before you start.
5. Click Start. You’ll drop into the game and can begin answering.

That’s it. The whole thing takes under a minute once you have the code.

Where do I find the Wayground join code?

The code comes from your teacher or whoever is hosting. It’s generated automatically when they start a live session or set an assignment. You’ll usually get it one of these ways:

• Shown on the teacher’s screen at the start of a live game.
• Shared through Google Classroom, Canvas, or Schoology.
• Sent by email or message.

One thing worth knowing: each code is unique to that session and stops working once the session ends. If you were given a code yesterday, it probably won’t work today. In that case, ask your teacher for a fresh one.

How to join on a phone

You have two options on a phone or tablet:

• Browser: open wayground.com/join and follow the same steps as above.
• App: download the Wayground app from the App Store or Google Play, then enter your code.

Both work the same way. The app can be smoother if you play often, but you don’t need it to join.

Do I need an account to join?

For a live game, no. A code and a name are enough, with no sign-up or email required. This is the case for most classroom sessions.

There are a couple of exceptions:

• If your teacher assigned work through a Class or an LMS like Google Classroom, you may need to sign in to your student account or your LMS to get the code.
• Younger students joining a class may be asked for a parent or guardian’s email.

Does the old quizizz.com/join link still work?

Yes. The old quizizz.com/join address now redirects to wayground.com/join, so either link takes you to the same place. If a teacher shared a quizizz.com link from last year, it still works. This is part of the wider name change, which we explain in Quizizz to Wayground.

Wayground join code not working?

If your code won’t go through, run down this quick list:

• Check for typos. Codes are easy to misread, so double-check each digit.
• Make sure the session is live. A code only works while the game is running. If the teacher hasn’t started it yet, or it has already ended, the code won’t work.
• Ask for a new code. Codes expire when the session ends, so an old one needs replacing.
• Try the other method. If the browser is giving trouble, try the app, or the other way round.
